Christian Sexual Orientation
October 24, 2008A person with a healthy body and mind can select his or her lifestyle with complete clarity and full intention. That person may or may not believe in God or claim a particular Christian sexual orientation.
The choices we make can reflect our inner beliefs about spiritual matters. But, they do not necessarily have to. One can easily elect heterosexual or homosexual ways of life without even considering metaphysical ramifications.
In our society, man-made laws exist for almost every circumstance or situation that a human being can encounter – including Christian sexual orientation. Yet, there are those who go against these laws without regard.
Also, in virtually every spiritually centered society, written laws exist in the holy words. Again, there are those who enact opposing behaviors, as though such laws do not exist.
All of the above comprises highly controversial viewpoints that can both support and detract from the validity of written laws. Namely, Christian sexual orientiation finds itself at the forefront of worldwide discussion because of the rights and wrongs perpetrated by clergy members.
We tend to view clergy as slightly more responsible, and maybe less human than the rest of us, right? Yet, is it not possible that these individuals may be just as imperfect as its followers?
As human beings, we are created in God’s basic image, yet without His grand powers. Therefore, in the process of truly learning right from wrong and distinguishing between things that may help us or hurt us in the future, we continue to make thousands of mistakes.
Lifestyle choice comes under the gun of societal pressure, especially Christian sexual orientation, because the general tenets of Christianity outstandingly support the Adam and Eve principle of marital unity.
Others of us in society would therefore tend to condemn those who make a choice in any other direction. But, in the final analysis, it is what remains in one’s own heart that determines his or her actions, behavior, or lifestyle.
Remember the biblical passage that basically says that you may train up a child in the way that he or she should go, and when that child becomes an adult, he or she is likely to stick with what was taught?
Okay, this is not exactly true any more in American society. There are millions of youth who, after seeing their parents or mentors exemplify a specific style of behavior… still select something different for themselves, especially upon discovering the enlightening freedom of adulthood.
How can one explain this phenomenon? It is not fully explained as of yet. Meanwhile, one can only SUGGEST THEORIES in one way or another. To one degree or another, for instance, the Bible suggests that Christians should engage a lifelong attempt to emulate the original marriage of Adam to Eve.
Yet, the point that many non-Christians can take (and even fellow ChristianS who wish to justify other than heterosexual union between two people)… is that, the Bible shows no actual physical ceremony wherein Adam and Eve became man and wife.
Even within Christian sexual orientations, the light of this thinking may be that the entire story of creation merely represents a metaphor for peaceful existence during our stay here on earth.
From this and other perspectives, or in seeking to justify controversial Christian sexual orientations, it is also very easy to dismiss the idea of heterosexual union as the one and only way to remain in God’s good grace.
Have you ever stopped to wonder for yourself (and also to actually answer the question)… Why would any one deliberately choose a homosexual lifestyle? Especially from a Christian standpoint, the majority of available scriptural passages do not condone sexual relationships between women and women, or between men and men.
However, in almost every case where one scripture generally or specifically supports pro-heterosexual union, one can also uncover another part which states something much more dubious or unclear.
Thus, the debate continues and scriptural metaphors provide the primary justification for Christian homosexual orientation today.
